Delayed opening rain means plenty of time is spent feeding our sheep. Hay supplies have dwindled to the point that we have purchased additional hay from other growers.
Mothering up lambs to ensure full pedigree is known continues at every opportunity. We used 13 Sires in single mated mobs of ewes in November/December, and we have lambed these mobs in separate paddocks. When we mother up the lambs it gives us a good look at the type and style of each ram’s progeny. Colour coding of tags means that for the future, we make observations to maximise our knowledge of visual performance to complement data measurements.
Once some rain fell, we were able to begin planting pasture species and move towards our cropping program.
